We have heard many touching stories of why our bracelets were
purchased for someone special. Knowing our faith is strengthened by others,
we would love to hear
from you and possibly share your stories with others. Please share with us how your
HIO bracelet has played a role in your life. We will continually post
samplings of the stories we receive here. Submit your stories, pictures or anything else you may wish to share by contacting us here.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke
is easy and my burden is light."
"When you first starting selling, I came to Linda's house for a party. I bought two bracelets then, and I have worn them for all these years. Last spring, when a client was having a hard time dealing with her mom's decline in condition, I gave her one of those bracelets, and told her the story of the HIO beads. She wore that bracelet til the day her mom died, and I hope she still wears it. She voiced how much extra courage a simple bracelet gave to her. Recently, a nurse that I work with experienced an acute episode that required surgery. She did not know if she was going to survive. The day before surgery, I went to see her at Froedtert. I gave her oldest daughter my last bracelet, again sharing the story of the HIO beads, and how they have been a strength for me over the years. I wanted to share the comments on the card that Linda just sent me, after her successful surgery. It says "Catherine's still wearing your bracelet, states"I'm not taking this off-it !
gives me some sense of calmness even now". So, when you are tired, and working too much, think of this email, and know that your hands helped strengthen someone's heart! I'll have to order more bracelets soon!
"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ
"Hello. I just had to let you know a couple of things about my order. The girls in my small group loved the bracelets! They were very excited about them which was fun for me. They are high school seniors and I am the mother of 3 boys so I'm not always so successful in finding something meaningful that they like so much. Also, I have a special story about the beautiful HIO bracelet that you included as a gift. I just felt like when I received it it was a blessing that I was to use to bless someone else. I work at a middle school and our assistant principal is early in her pregnancy with her 3rd child. Her first child was born with some unexplained deformities and died (unexpectedly) at 3 months. She has a second healthy child. She is now pregnant again and has been very nauseous and has lost weight rather than gaining. She has been very worried and was sharing with me how she just felt like something was wrong and she can't shake the feeling. I received your bracelet when I got home after that discussion. I just felt she was the one who needed this bracelet. I took it in and gave it to her the next day explaining that I had received it as a gift but felt she should have it and that I really wanted it to remind her to talk to God about her concerns with this pregnancy. She burst into tears and thanked me for thinking of her. She had been to the doctor the afternoon before (after work) and got some scary news. She has an antibody that could fight against her baby. It is a slight risk but enough that this pregnancy will be very worrisome for her. This bracelet meant alot to her and she has worn it every day since. Thank you for blessing me so that I could pass the blessing on to her!
"Hear my voice when I call, O LORD;
be merciful to me and answer me.
"April 29, 2005: I had taken my husband Steve to have a colonoscopy. He'd not been feeling good for a while and had had some tests run. A Catscan the day earlier showed a spot on his colon. We weren't really worried because the doctor said it could be any number of things. We didn't even tell his parents about it. My family knew because we all work together! Steve went in and while he was in the procedure I got a call on my cell phone that his Dad had just suffered a heart attack and was on his way to the hospital. Before I could figure out what to do next, I got another call. This time they said Dad didn't make it. Within 5 minutes the nurse called me back to tell me that Steve was in recovery. As I made my way down the hall in tears over his Dad, nurses began stopping me to console me. One of them said, "It will be OK, we have a wonderful cancer center here." That's how I found out that my husband had cancer. I had to wait two hours for him to come out of anesthesia to tell him he had cancer and that his Dad was gone. Not a good day!
Steve and I have been so blessed. We have a great family and great friends. God has blessed his health. Since his surgery in May '05 and six month of chemo, there has been no sign of his cancer returning.
In the middle of all of this, my sister-in-law Angel, sent me one of your bracelets. I put it on (thru tears!) and never took it off. I was grocery shopping a few months ago and the bracelet broke and tiny pieces scattered across the floor. I was so sad! I can't tell you how many times that bracelet reminded me to HIO!
I emailed Angel this week because I had heard of a guy in our community who has just been diagnosed with lung, bone, brain cancer. I believe he's 42 years old and his name is George. George and his wife have two little boys. I remembered the days that my little boy would ask his Dad to play and Dad didn't feel like it. It broke my heart. I wanted to get one of your bracelets for George's wife. She doesn't know me but I know that they are Christians and I have seen their little boys at my son's school.
So, that's the story. I would have loved to order another bracelet for myself, but felt more compelled to "PRAY it forward".

"HIO is at work here. This morning a woman who is so wonderful, has had some very difficult things going on in her life. Her parents, bills etc... She couldn't come to work Wednesday as life was just too overwhelming for her. So this morning when she came in I just wanted to check up on her, she is a bit better, so I though of my bracelet. I took it off and put it on her. OH MY!!! What an instant relief she felt.
Thank you for letting me be a part of your ministry.
God is truly great!"
